support for education

Development and Education Programme for Daughters and Communities in the Mekong Delta. This amazing organization is led by the charismatic Sompopa Jantraka. Forced to work as a child, he now is a social activist devoted to provide shelter and education to children who used to be inhumanely abused by adults. This is the dark side of the otherwise colorful Thailand. Kulczyk Foundation has provided support for the DEPDC. We are helping them help others!

By running a vocational school and a shelter, DEPDC has created an environment where children threatened by various forms of slavery can live safely, receive education and obtain a profession. Millions people across the world are victims of forced labor. This group includes many children. In Thailand they are subject to slave labor, sometimes sold by their families. In 1989 Sompop Jantraka decided to take action against this phenomenon and provide help to the poorest. He has come up with a program aimed at protecting such children and providing them with decent education.

The school led by Sompop organizes many vocational workshops. Children are fed by crops cultivated by the school. The surplus produce is sold on neighboring markets, and the money goes to the school’s budget. Field irrigation system will help them use the fields more efficiently. The same applies to purchasing new farming tools. At workshops, children can learn various professions, like weaving or carpentry.

Sompop’s school (Half Day School) is where the children find asylum and home. But it necessitates renovation and adaptation so that the children can live and learn in proper conditions. That is why we are helping them out, and encourage others to follow suit and help the children of Thailand!
