It is a major success and an extremely important distinction for the first episode of the Polish documentary series about helping others. The episode entitled ‘Ethiopia: Doomed to Get Married’, part of the documentary TV series ‘The Domino Effect’ by Dominika Kulczyk, was the winner of the short documentary category and was recognized as the Best Short Documentary at the Southampton International Film Festival.

“This has been the fourth award this year for ‘The Domino Effect,’ produced by Kulczyk Foundation. It is especially valuable because it draws the world’s attention to certain problems presented in each episode. The aim of the whole series is to make more people see the life of those who are in dire need of help. The world should help them, but so should we, each of us – we should be ready to open our hearts to others,” said Dominika Kulczyk.

It tells the story of girls who are married off to much older men before they have become adult women. To avoid this fate, they escape from their homes. In the episode, we also meet people who are helping these children.

‘The Domino Effect’ program also won the Gold Plaque in the category Documentary: Social/Political at the Chicago International Film Festival; an Award of Merit Special Mention: Documentary Short at the Best Shorts Competition; and an award in the category of Human Relations and Values at the World Media Festival Hamburg.
